A lot of people ask us whether they’ll be able to “feel” their multivitamin working. The honest answer: not necessarily. Some may notice subtle changes (like less fatigue or improved energy), while others may feel nothing at all. But that doesn’t mean your multivitamin isn’t doing its job.
Supplements don’t work like caffeine or painkillers where you feel an immediate effect. Instead, they help fill small gaps in your diet, often in ways that are invisible day-to-day but meaningful over time. Think of it like routine car servicing: even if your car is running fine, regular checks and oil changes keep it running smoothly for years to come. Similarly, a good multivitamin is less about instant gratification and more about long-term maintenance.
What Multivitamins Can (and Can’t) Do

In India, two of the most common deficiencies are vitamin D3 and vitamin B12. But here’s the reality: the doses needed to correct these deficiencies are usually much higher than what any standard multivitamin provides. A single capsule can’t realistically hold 1,000–2,000 IU of vitamin D3 or 500–1,000 mcg of B12, the levels often prescribed when deficiencies are diagnosed. What a multivitamin can do is help maintain levels once they’re restored and reduce the risk of mild gaps in the first place. -
Filling nutritional cracks, not fixing the foundation:
Multivitamins are best seen as “insurance”, supporting your diet where it falls short, but they don’t replace targeted supplementation or medical treatment when a deficiency exists.
The Problem With “Kitchen Sink” Multivitamins
Take a look at most labels on the market and you’ll see 25–30+ ingredients crammed into one tablet. On paper, that looks impressive. In practice, it’s not.

In trying to solve for everything, they end up solving for nothing.
The smarter approach is to focus on fewer nutrients, in effective forms and doses, that are actually missing from most diets.
What to Look For in a Multivitamin

2. Just the Essentials
Skip products with 30+ ingredients. Look for targeted formulations that solve for actual dietary gaps, not everything under the sun.
3. Transparency and Testing
Choose brands that publish their testing data and explain why each ingredient is included, not just list a long panel for marketing.
The Bottom Line
Do multivitamins work? Yes, but not in the way many people expect. They won’t treat serious deficiencies, especially common ones in India like vitamin B12 and D3, but they can help maintain levels, reduce small nutritional cracks, and support overall health when taken consistently.
Think of them as maintenance, not medicine. And remember: when it comes to multivitamins, more is not always better. A targeted formula with fewer, more effective ingredients will do more for your health than a “kitchen sink” tablet that tries to solve everything and ends up solving nothing.
